GUT HEALTH

Let us start with what it means by Gut Health?

Taking the definition as stated by Dr. Stephan Bischoff at the University of Hohenheim, Germany, Gut health is “a state of physical and mental well-being in the absence of gastrointestinal complaints that require the consultation of a doctor, in the absence of indications or risks of bowel disease” This is a wide definition. We all know how we feel after eating a cheesy burger or deep fried potato slices. We do enjoy the taste but also start feeling too full, lazy, lathargic, sleep instead of feeling energetic. It is the processed food that has it’s own side effects like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), stomach ache, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal irritations. This may create signals to the central nervous system system that trigger changes in the mood. Similarly , the vice versa is also true when the low mood, anxiety, depression can affect your gut health and cause issues like IBS, feel like your stomach is crushing from inside (my personal experience!)

So the conclusion is that we can say that the food we eat is not for just satisfying our palate but can also help regulate our mood and behaviour.

  • Inner child wounds and your work life balance!

Work life balance is not just about enjoying your work and spending quality time with your family. Looking more deeply , it is all about how you interact and respond to your environment. Be it your response to assigned work or negative /positive feedbacks. Your way of managing your team or way you define your growth.

Some of the behaviour visible in adults with inner child wounds can be

  • Not enacting their true self in order to portray themself as perfect. This could be because they were never allowed to be themself and received conditional love and lot of criticism for being honest with their feelings.

  • Blaming and Critical : Since they may have experienced a childhood where they were blamed for all the bad happening in the life of their care giver, perhaps they imbibe the same values in their subconscious mind. This results in an unfriendly environment at workplace.

  • Not able to say 'No': Not being able to come out of the fight and flight mode, the person may feel anxious when overloaded with work but still not be able to openly communicate their concern thinking that this might not make them look ' Perfect'. This may make them feel overwhelmed and more anxious.

These are a few examples that I have highlighted through this article. There can be various different cases and scenarios due to different underlying issues. If inner child healing is not taken care of in time, it can aggravate and result in a lot of work life imbalance.

    Traits of a Narcissist

Narcissism is a cluster B personality disorder in which the person shows certain traits. NPD or Narcissist personality disorder unfortunately cannot be diagnosed through any kind of medical examination. It can only be identified through certain traits. The main problem is that the narcissist shows these traits only to their close family members but are normal and friendly with the outsiders! They are intelligent, charming and know when to wear the bright mask! Narcissists being an expert in manipulation, lying and making stories can easily mislead the therapist with fake answers to psychometric personality interviews to portray themselves as kind people. They are never guilty, never sorry, never happy, never satisfied, never caring. Always hurting, always mean, always sad, always grumpy, always blaming and always a victim!

    Traits of a Narcissit :

  • Controlling

  • Highly aggressive

  • Blaming and demeaning others

  • Lying

  • Manipulating

  • Faking

  • Silent Treatment

  • Isolating the victim

  • Great at talking ill behind the backs

  • Trouble creators

  • Resort to their worst when you go against them
